“Free” can describe several different offers. Before signing up for software, a course or a digital resource, identify exactly which offer is being made.
A free plan has its own limits
A provider may offer an ongoing free tier with fewer features, lower usage allowances or restrictions on collaboration. Check those limits against the work you want to do. The existence of a free tier does not mean that every feature or service is free.
A trial has an end
A trial gives access for a stated period or under stated conditions. Read its end date, payment requirements and what happens afterwards. If you decide not to continue, use the provider’s cancellation process in time and keep the confirmation.
A discount can change at renewal
Compare the initial charge with the renewal terms. Check the total commitment, currency and billing period rather than relying only on a monthly-equivalent number or a percentage-off badge.
Downloads and courses need a different checklist
For a template or ebook, check file formats, software compatibility and the licence for your intended use. For a course, read the syllabus, prerequisites, access period and certificate terms. Refund conditions can differ between providers and products, so check the actual offer.
This is an offer-checking guide, not a claim of a current sale. Explore free digital listings or browse the digital directory and verify the selected provider’s terms before committing.
